State-bred juveniles take the spotlight at Aqueduct Racetrack Dec. 28 in two $150,000 divisions of the New York Stallion Series at six furlongs on the inner dirt track.
The Lewis Dinner, front-running 3 3/4-length winner of the Key Cents Stakes Nov. 16 at Aqueduct, is the 3-5 choice in the Fifth Avenue division for fillies. A field of six is entered for the Fifth Avenue, which is race 3 on the Sunday card with a 1:18 p.m. EST scheduled post.
The Great White Way, which attracted eight entrants, is headed by Disco Partner, 8-5 on the morning off his debut maiden victory Oct. 31 at Aqueduct. The race is the fifth on the Sunday program with a 2:16 p.m. scheduled post.
The Lewis Dinner, who broke her maiden in her fourth start Oct. 16 over a muddy Belmont Park strip, brings a two-race win streak into the Fifth Avenue for trainer Rudy Rodriguez and owners Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables, and Gary Aisquith.
The daughter of Posse has not been worse than third in her five races and will be ridden by Manuel Franco from gate 5 in the small field. The Lewis Dinner has worked three times at Aqueduct since her stakes win, most recently breezing five furlongs in 1:02.37 over the inner dirt.
Island Wind Racing's Omagoddonna, also on a two-race win streak, is 3-1 on the early line for trainer Chris Englehart. The Wild Desert filly comes off a half-length score as the favorite in a $50,000 starter allowance Nov. 20 at Aqueduct. She graduated for a $40,000 tag in her prior race at Belmont Park Oct. 13, when she was claimed by her present connections off trainer Ken McPeek and breeder Carl Gessler Jr.
Disco Partner is favored in the male division after posting a front-running 1 1/2-length tally over state-bred maidens Oct. 31 on the Aqueduct main track. James Ryerson trains the son of recently deceased sire Disco Rico for owner/breeder Patricia Generazio. Junior Alvarado rides the gray colt from post 3.
On the rail is Clockwork, a debut maiden winner on a muddy Belmont track who returned to run fourth in the Notebook Stakes for state-breds Nov. 16 at Aqueduct. Tim Hills trains the son of Noonmark for Sea Gull Associates.
