Jockey Stephanie Slinger was taken to Loyola Medical Center complaining of rib and back pain after being thrown from her mount in the fifth race Jan. 1 at Hawthorne Race Course in Cicero, Ill.
The track said the rider suffered only bruises, and did not appear to have any broken bones.
Slinger's mount in the six-furlong test for $10,000 claimers, Try a Lemon Drop, stumbled leaving the gate, throwing the rider to the ground where she was stepped on by Try a Lemon Drop.
The track's publicity office said Try a Lemon Drop appeared to have no ill effects as a result of the incident.
