Stable guard Manny Diaz greets people with a mega-watt smile every day, since 1984. A former jockey, Diaz delivered newspapers to owners at Caliente which turned into riding for them when one saw his potential. After arriving in the U.S. in 1970, Diaz spent time in the Bay Area, Seattle, and Los Angeles before retiring from riding. His greatest gift was having that special something, allowing him to create a bond with each of his horses.
