Santa Anita Park will not run downhill turf sprints April 4 or April 5.
In a text to horsemen April 3, the track announced that three scheduled races, which would have been contested at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside course, had been moved. On Thursday, the first race will be run at 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track and the eighth race will be contested at one mile on the turf.
On Friday, the third race on the overnight will be contested at 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track.

On March 31 Santa Anita saw its 23rd equine fatality in racing or training since the current meet started Dec. 26 when Arms Runner suffered a catastrophic breakdown in the San Simeon Stakes (G3T), which was contested at 6 1/2 furlongs down the hill.
