Description:
Trainer Mary Eppler began 2015 in style at Laurel Park when she saddled three winners the afternoon of Jan. 2.

Eppler visited the winners' circle following the day's first race with Lily's Peak ($3.40) , the fourth with Lovable Lady ($27.20) , and the sixth with Lasamanamama ($7.60) .

In the opener, Lily's Peak won for the fifth time in 10 starts with a six-length score. Eppler co-owns the 4-year-old Louis Quatorze filly with Adam Staple and Joseph P. Fonte.

Lovable Lady broke poorly but was able to run down the pacesetter past the eighth pole to win in her debut. The 4-year-old Not For Love   filly is campaigned by owner-breeder Samuel H. Rogers.

Lasamanamama, a 6-year-old Sabre d'Argent mare, rallied off the pace for her second consecutive victory in starter allowance company. She is owned by Triple Tree Stable.

"It is good to have days like this," Eppler said. "I was really impressed with the first-time starter (Lovable Lady). I wrote her off after the break. I did win with her mother (Summer Notebook) first time out. She had been training well at Pimlico, but she is a little on the goofy side."

Eppler, who has been training since 1980, had more than $1 million in earnings for the first time in 2014.

Eppler has 46 stakes victories on her record, including the1996 Futurity Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park with Traitor. The Baltimore County native also conditioned eventual Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Victory Gallop as a 2-year-old in 1997, winning three of five starts with him, including a pair of stakes at Colonial Downs
