Bidding turned into a frenzy March 27 at The Gulfstream Sale, when a Curlin  colt stepped into the ring late in the day and stunned the crowd to silence. With the numbers climbing ever higher and the crowd hushed to silence, the colt was eventually knocked down to Jamie McCalmont and Donato Lanni, agents for M.V. Magnier, for $3.65 million.

Bred in Kentucky by Hill 'n' Dale Equine holding and St. Elias Stables, the 2-year-old chestnut is out of the Bernardini  mare Achieving, and is a half brother to group 1-placed Arabian Hope and stakes winner Counterforce. Consigned by Crupi's New Castle Farm, agent, the colt worked an eighth-mile in :10 flat at the under tack show.
