New Track Superintendent at Canterbury Park

George Moncrief, assistant track superintendent at Oaklawn Park, has been named track superintendent for the 2015 race meet at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn.
The 70-day meet meet begins May 15 and concludes Sept. 12.
Moncrief is scheduled to begin at Canterbury April 15, and will continue in his current position at Oaklawn for the meet that begins there Jan. 9 and runs through April 11. Moncrief replaces Javier Bajaras who resigned in September 2014 to take a similar position at Keeneland in Lexington.
"I have heard a lot of good things from Oaklawn trainers that also operate stables at Canterbury," Moncrief said of the Minnesota track. "I know that I will inherit an excellent track maintenance crew and will be working with a racing administration that stresses safety, as their admirable record indicates."
