Description:

Citing extreme weather conditions, the New York Racing Association canceled live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack for Wednesday, Jan. 7.

NYRA said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our jockeys and our equine athletes." Simulcasting will continue at both Aqueduct and Belmont Park on Wednesday and live racing is scheduled to resume Jan. 8.

According to AccuWeather.com, the New York forecast was calling for a high temperature of 24 degrees, with some snow flurries. At noon, the temperature was expected to be 22 degrees and, coupled with the wind, would feel like 1 degree.
