E Five Racing Thoroughbred's Rushing Fall will look to become the third horse to win more than three stakes at Keeneland when she makes her 4-year-old debut in the $350,000 Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1T) April 13.
Trained by Chad Brown, the More Than Ready filly is already among an elite group of 28 horses to capture three stakes at the Lexington, Ky., oval. Only Wise Dan and Take Charge Lady have scored more, winning seven and four Keeneland stakes, respectively.
At 2, Rushing Fall won the JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes (G3T) en route to taking the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) at Del Mar. She returned to Keeneland her sophomore season to win the Appalachian Stakes Presented by Japan Racing Association (G2T) in the spring and the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes presented by Lane's End (G1T) in the fall.
Rushing Fall is a neck shy of perfect in seven starts. She showed a late kick during her juvenile season but was closer to the pace at 3 and won the QEII on the lead. She has wins over firm, yielding, and soft turf.
Brown trains two other Jenny Wiley contenders in Madaket Stables, Tom Coleman, Team Hanley, and Elayne Stables' Rymka and Martin Schwartz's Onthemoonagain. Rymska enters the 1 1/16-mile Jenny Wiley off her biggest victory in the Hillsborough Stakes (G2T) March 9 at Tampa Bay Downs following multiple grade 3 scores. Onthemoonagain was a stakes winner in France before making her U.S. debut in August. She was third in the Hillsborough and second to stablemate Fourstar Crook in the Flower Bowl Stakes (G1T) Oct. 7 at Belmont Park.
Evan, Matthew, and Andrew Trommer's Princess Warrior took a shot at last year's Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) trail but rounded into form after switching surfaces. She broke through in the Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2T) Nov. 23 at Churchill Downs, was sixth in the American Oaks (G1T) Dec. 29 at Santa Anita Park, and rebounded over Turfway Park's all-weather track to win the Latonia Stakes March 9 in her season debut. Trainer Kenny McPeek will send her out Saturday without Lasix.
Completing the field are grade 2 winner Goodyearforroses, who makes her third start off a 15-month layoff, grade 3 winners Bellavais and Got Stormy, and allowance winner Phantom Opening.
On the undercard, the $100,000 Giant's Causeway Stakes for older fillies and mares going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf features Morticia, who won the Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes (G3T) at Keeneland in 2017, among the field of 11. The 5-year-old Twirling Candy mare is a homebred for G. Watts Humphrey Jr. and owns multiple stakes wins on her consistent 7-5-4 record from 19 starts.
