Due to extreme weather conditions, live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack and Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has been canceled for Wednesday, Jan. 7.
NYRA said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our jockeys and our equine athletes."
Simulcasting will continue at both tracks and their respective outlets Wednesday, with live racing scheduled to resume Jan. 8.
According to AccuWeather.com, the New York forecast was calling for a high temperature of 24 degrees, with some snow flurries. At noon, the temperature was expected to be 22 degrees and, coupled with the wind, would feel like 1 degree.
