Multiple Tracks Cancel Jan. 7 Racing Cards

Due to extreme weather conditions, live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races , Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course as been canceled for Jan. 7.

The New York Racing Association said the decision to cancel Aqueduct racing was made "out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our jockeys and our equine athletes." According to AccuWeather.com, the New York forecast was calling for a high temperature of 24 degrees, with some snow flurries. At noon, the temperature was expected to be 22 degrees and, coupled with the wind, would feel like 1 degree.

Simulcasting will continue at all four tracks and their respective betting outlets Wednesday. Live racing was scheduled to resume Jan. 8 at Aqueduct, Charles Town, and Penn National.

Live racing is scheduled to return at Mahoning Valley, located in northeastern Ohio, Jan. 10. The track races on a Monday-through-Wednesday and Saturday schedule.
