After a solid run in his stakes debut in the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) April 6, Woodford Racing's Campaign will make a quick turnaround for the Tokyo City Cup Stakes (G3) April 14 at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by John Sadler, Campaign has been supplemented for $1,500 to the 1 1/2-mile Tokyo City Cup after finishing fourth in last week's Santa Anita Handicap won by stablemate Gift Box. Campaign, a 4-year-old son of Curlin , opened the season with a victory in a Feb. 3 allowance-optional claiming race on a sloppy track at Santa Anita.
Sadler also will send out Hronis Racing's Acker, who typically races on turf but won a recent off-the-turf allowance-optional claiming race Jan. 31 on the sloppy main track at Santa Anita.
Campaign, a 2-1 choice on the morning-line, will start from the rail while morning-line favorite Beach View will start from the outside in the expected field of five.
Levy Racing's Beach View, a son of Giant's Causeway, enters Sunday's test off back to back grade 2 placings on the turf at Santa Anita. Trained by Leonard Powell, Beach View opened the year with a third-place finish in the San Marcos Stakes before finishing second in the 1 1/2-mile San Luis Rey Stakes.
In his two most recent dirt starts, Beach View closed out 2018 with a fourth-place finish in the San Antonio Stakes (G2) after a July victory in the 1 1/2-mile Cougar II Handicap (G3) at Del Mar.
Rounding out the field are Full of Luck, who enters off an allowance win at Golden Gate Fields; and Arch Prince, who most recently finished second in an allowance at Golden Gate.
