Since 1984 when Hollywood Park hosted the first Breeders' Cup, the event conceived and championed by John Gaines has provided the sport with a steady stream of remarkable performances on the racetrack and huge thrills at the mutual windows.
We asked The Blood-Horse editorial staff to share personal stories of their most memorable Breeders' Cup races. Quite to our surprise as we were compiling our list of stories, no two people picked the same race.
Beginning with a story about Wild Again in the 1984 Classic, these stories offer a behind-the-scene glimpse at covering this prestigious event and uncover fascinating details about the people and horses that have created Breeders' Cup's history. Senior correspondent Steve Haskin will also share his top 10 races by Breeders' Cup decades (1984-93, 1994-2003, and 2004-2012). Woven with these personal tales are polls and interesting facts about winning championship horses, trainers and jockeys.
