EquiLottery, which aims to link state lotteries with pari-mutuel pools, moved forward in Kentucky Jan. 8 when State Senator Julie Raque Adams (R-Louisville) filed a bill that would permit such a collaboration.

"We are thrilled by this opportunity to bring EquiLottery to Kentucky," said EquiLottery president Brad Cummings. "Considering the cultural importance and popularity of horse racing in the Bluegrass, Kentucky is an ideal state for this new exciting take on the lottery experience."

The bill (SB 74) would permit the lottery to develop or collaborate in the development of shared lottery games. The bill would exempt such games from the definition of "bookmaking" and "gambling device."
