The Tiznow colt consigned as Hip 321 works at the OBS Spring Sale

The First Finds operation of Tami Bobo and Fernando De Jesus are primarily pinhookers who purchase weanlings for resale as yearlings.

But they deviate from that business model when an individual they like doesn't bring as much as they think it's worth at public auction and then offer it at a 2-year-olds in training sale.

Their patience was rewarded April 24 when a striking son of Tiznow  owned by First Finds was purchased by Solis/Litt Bloodstock for $600,000 April 24 during the second session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

Consigned as Hip 321 by de Meric Sales, agent, the colt was bred in Kentucky by David Jacobs and the Tiznow Syndicate. Out of the Marquetry mare Marquee Delivery, he is a half brother to grade 1 winner Promises Fulfilled and graded stakes-placed Marquee Miss.

First Finds bought the colt for $100,000 from Crowning Point Farm at The November Sale in 2017 and bought him back on a final bid of $285,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The colt breezed a quarter-mile in :21 during the April 16 under tack show.

"He is just a great physical who breezed really well and has a really nice pedigree," said Alex Solis Jr. "The mare has thrown two really nice horses. You like a mare who can throw a runner. And he performed."

Solis said he and Jason Litt liked the colt at the September sale but not enough to pay more than the consignors wanted.

"We liked him there, he was a nice horse, but we just passed on him. Another colt is always there. It was good to see him again; he's gotten bigger, and he's done all the right things. I was not surprised by the price, but it would not have surprised me if he had brought more."

"This horse was special from the beginning," Bobo said. "That's why we had such a high reserve on him as a yearling. I feel blessed and honored the horse brought that and that he was deserving of that price. Horses like him love doing their job. You're not teaching them to do it. They either have it or they don't."

Solis/Litt purchased two more six-figure juveniles during Wednesday's session. The first was Hip 365, a Commissioner  filly out of the Rahy mare Money Madness. Consigned by Q Bar J Thoroughbreds, the filly was pinhooked by Q Bar J for $40,000 from The July Sale. From the extended family of grade 1 winner and champion grass horse Cozzene, the filly breezed a quarter-mile in :20 1/5 at the under tack show and was bought on a final bid of $475,000.

Rounding out the day's purchases by the agent team was Hip 373, a Mizzen Mast  filly from the consignment of Randy Miles, agent. Out of the North Light  mare More Hoping, the gray or roan filly breezed an eighth-mile in :10 at the breeze show and cost $375,000.
