After knocking on the door with placed finishes in her first two starts, Enrique Cantarell's Honorable Mexican became the first winner April 19 for Spendthrift Farm's freshman sire Normandy Invasion .

The dark bay/brown filly is the first starter for Normandy Invasion and also the first foal out of the Big Brown  mare Omi One, who is a half sister to stakes-placed winner Fleet Irish (by Dublin), out of the family of multiple graded stakes winner Unbridled Energy. Honorable Mexican won a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Hipódromo de las Américas against six other challengers in :54 1/5.

Newtown Anner Stud bred Honorable Mexican in New York and later sold her for $1,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October Yearling Sale through the Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services consignment. The filly has now earned $3,568.

Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm campaigned Normandy Invasion after buying the son of Tapit —Boston Lady (Boston Harbor) for $230,000 at the 2012 Keeneland April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale from Eddie Woods' consignment. The colt compiled a 2-5-0 record from 12 starts and was runner-up in the Wood Memorial Stakes (G1), Remsen Stakes (G2), and the New Orleans Handicap (G2). Normandy Invasion retired with $551,900 in earnings.

B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm bought Normandy Invasion for stud duty and started him out at Keane Stud near Amenia, N.Y., where he stood for three seasons. He was transferred to Spendthrift Farm near Lexington for the 2019 season and stands for $3,500.
