Marcelino Torres and Manuel Quintana's My Good Girl broke her maiden by 7 3/4 lengths in her third start May 1 at Indiana Grand to become the first winner for her sire, Danza .
Trained by Marco Castaneda, My Good Girl finished fifth in her April 4 debut and returned April 17 to finish third in two starts going 4 1/2 furlongs at Keeneland. A change in venue seemed to do the trick as the filly broke inward but gained momentum under jockey Marcelino Pedroza and took the early lead.
After setting fractions of :23.66 and :47.48, My Good Girl was ridden out to the wire to complete the 4 1/2 furlongs in :53.57.
Bred in Kentucky by George E. Bates Trustee, My Good Girl is also the first winner for her dam, the Grand Slam mare Carlow Daisy.
Danza, who was trained by Todd Pletcher for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners during his time on the track, only won two races, but one of those was the Arkansas Derby (G1). After breaking his maiden at Belmont Park in his 2-year-old debut, Danza placed third in his next two starts, including the Saratoga Special Stakes (G2). He then slipped through on the rail and ran off to a 4 3/4-length victory in the Arkansas Derby, surprising many ahead of the 2014 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1), in which he placed third.
