America’s Best Racing and DerbyJackpot team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo or Cory Moelis – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet.
The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity to bet a trifecta or superfecta.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. It's the easiest and most fun online horse betting site out there. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

This Weekend’s Bets
Saturday
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Gulfstream Park, Race 9
#3 Speed Seeker: After winning his debut in easily in hand, Speed Seeker was immediately thrown into graded stakes company. She collected another win shortly after that, scoring in a Grade 3 at Woodbine that showed her versatility. Having proven she can win from near the lead, or off of it, Speed Seeker should be able to seek (no pun intended) out a nice trip here. Coming off a win last out, her confidence appears to be back and I'm looking for her to score here at a solid price.
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
Gulfstream Park, Race 10
#4 Transparent: An extremely talented horse, Transparent had no chance last time out in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap after stumbling at the start against some of the best horses in the country. Top jockey Javier Castellano stays aboard, which is a promising sign that he's got a bounce back race from him. I'm looking for him to get a nice trip just off the pace in a race I think could have some hot fractions
#6 Catholic Cowboy: Probably the least known of the names in this race, Catholic Cowboy gets the outside post and has the right running style to factor here. I think he will be overlooked on the toteboard because of the other big names in this race, but in peak form and coming off a bullet workout, I expect Catholic Cowboy to be closing into a fast pace late to hopefully get up for second and return a decent Gonzo.
Sunday
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Santa Anita Park, Race 5
#5 Roman Tizzy: A solid, reliable closer, Roman Tizzy gets a good situation here. The race is full of speed and fast stalkers, and Roman Tizzy always gives his best effort. He likes to come closing late which should work out well here, and he also likes the track. I expect his odds to drift up and believe he could go off in the double digits. If that's the case, you will be getting a nice price on a reliable horse.
Longshot Bet (Granny Bet)
Santa Anita, Race 9
#3 Warren's Sunny Boy: While Warren's Sunny Boy hasn't performed well yet at this track, he's got the numbers to compete here. He's slowly figuring out the game and, with that, his speed numbers are getting better and better. I expect him to continue that trend and, if he does, he has the closing kick to be heard from late.
