World of Trouble had absolutely no trouble at all scoring in near wire-to-wire fashion in the $250,000 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes (G2T) May 3 at Churchill Downs.
The 1-5 favorite broke fourth but grabbed the lead immediately in the 5 1/2-furlong event. Angaston kept him company from the outside and Will Call was also prominent early, but rider Manny Franco had plenty of horse underneath him. World of Trouble cruised the first quarter mile in :23.07 and got to the inside edge on the turn for home.
In the stretch the son of Kantharos —Meets Expectations, by Valid Expectations, widened and easily cruised to a 3 3/4-length advantage over Smart Remark on the wire in 1:03.97. Chaos Theory checked in third with Undrafted moving late down the middle of the course to finish fourth. Bound for Nowhere and Mr. Crow were scratched.
Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables, and Bethlehem Stables' World of Trouble won for the fourth consecutive time since finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T) last November under the Twin Spires. The 4-year-old has won eight times from 12 starts and became a millionaire with the Turf Sprint victory.
World of Trouble was bred by Darsan Inc. in Florida and is trained by Jason Servis, who will saddle Maximum Security in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) May 4.
"He's a runner. He's special," said Servis. "I'd like to see the same performance from Maximum Security."
World of Trouble paid $2.60, $2.40, and $2.20. Smart Remark returned $14.40 and $7.60, while Chaos Theory was good for $3.80 to show.
