Klaravich Stables' Competitionofideas is scheduled to make her 4-year-old debut in the $200,000 Beaugay Stakes (G3T) May 11 at Belmont Park. Five other older fillies and mares are entered to take on the Chad Brown-trained American Oaks (G1T) winner in the 1 1/16-mile turf event, including stablemate Homerique.

Competitionofideas has two wins over this course and distance from back-to-back maiden and allowance scores last fall. She made her stakes debut the Winter Memories Stakes Nov. 22 at Aqueduct Racetrack, running late in the mile test to capture third.

The Speightstown  filly finished her sophomore season in style when she was shipped to Santa Anita Park to win the Dec. 29 American Oaks, rallying past the front-running K P Pergoliscious to win by 2 3/4 lengths going 1 1/4 miles on the turf. Joel Rosario, aboard for her top-level score, has the mount again Saturday.

Competitionofideas tuned up May 7 with a half-mile work in :52.12 over Belmont's main track. Rain is in the forecast, but she is 2-for-2 over a good-rated turf course.

"She had a nice easy breeze yesterday because we're real close to the race," Brown said. "She did fine. I don't think (soft turf) will bother her. She's run well on it before."

Homerique, a classic-placed group 3 winner in France, makes her Stateside debut and her first start since October, when she finished third, beaten a length, in the Prix de l'Opera Longines (G1). She lost nothing in defeat finishing behind Wild Illusion and Magic Wand.

Peter Brant's Homrique was timed in :49 for her final drill Tuesday.

"Homerique had a maintenance half-mile and looked OK," Brown said. "She went in company with (champion turf female) Sistercharlie. Her training has been a little bit interrupted with the weather, but we want to get her started."

Looking for a breakthrough is West Point Thoroughbreds, Hubert Honroe, and Robert Masiello's Chipolata, who hit the board in stakes company in her native France and ran third in the Belmont Oaks Invitational (G1T) last summer in her first U.S. start. The Christophe Clement trainee was away for nearly six months before capturing an allowance optional claimer April 11 at Aqueduct.

"She's a nice filly. She did well last time but now it's a grade 3 and it's more difficult, but she's doing well and training well," Clement said. "We'll see if she can step up. Ideally, I think she can go a mile and an eighth to a mile and a quarter. But we don't have those kind of races right now, so it's either we go further or we go shorter. We thought it'd be wiser to go shorter and see what happens."

Completing the field are Andina Del Sur, looking for her first win since the Florida Oaks (G3T) in March 2018; Matty's Magnum, a former claimer who won the Winter Memories to cap off a three-race win streak; and Binti Al Nar, a group 3 winner in Italy trying U.S. soil for the first time.
