Flavien Prat won the May 4 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs

One week after winning the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) aboard Country House, jockey Flavien Prat will try to win a second straight edition of the Santa Barbara Stakes (G3T) when he rides Guiliana May 11 on the turf at Santa Anita Park.

Last season, Prat guided Queen Blossom, after a tracking trip, to a half-length victory in the Santa Barbara, a 1 1/2-mile test for fillies and mares 3 and older. This year, Prat will ride Guiliana for owners Red Baron's Barn and Rancho Temescal and trainer Leonard Powell.

A 5-year-old Zoffany mare, Guiliana finished second in her United States debut April 7 in an optional-claiming allowance race at 1 1/8 miles. That race was won by frontrunning Animosity, who is also entered in the Santa Barbara. Prior to that effort, Guiliana raced mostly in Germany, where she placed in three stakes races.

Owned by a partnership that includes trainer Eric Kruljac, Causeforcommotion will look to improve on her runner-up finish in last year's Santa Barbara. She opened this season with a third-place finish in a one-mile optional-claiming allowance race April 14 on the Santa Anita turf.

Rounding out the expected field of six are Kodiak West, who has a win in three U.S. starts after beginning her career in Europe; California-bred Lynne's Legacy, who has placed in a pair of grade 3 stakes this year on the Santa Anita turf; and Queen Bee to You, who posted an optional-claiming allowance win in February on Santa Anita's main track.
