The NBC telecast of the Preakness Stakes (G1) May 18 from Pimlico Race Course attracted an overnight rating of 4.3 with a 10 share, earning the highest overnight rating of any afternoon sporting event Saturday.

Still, the rating and share are down from last year when Justify  secured a Preakness win on his way to a sweep of the Triple Crown. That telecast earned a 5.5/12.

With both Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) winner Country House and Maximum Security, who was disqualified from Derby victory, sitting out the Preakness, the telecast peaked with a 5.3/13 for the race portion of the program (7-7:15 p.m. EDT) that saw War of Will earn a clear victory.
