English-trained Toast of New York, last year's U.A.E. Derby (UAE-II) winner who finished second in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) and TVG Pacific Classic (gr. I), has been sold by owner Michael Buckley to Sheikh Joaan Al Thani's Al Shaqab Racing.
According to the Racing Post, Toast of New York will remain at Lambourn with trainer Jamie Osborne and will be pointed for the March 28 Dubai Wold Cup (UAE-I).
Jockey Frankie Dettori, who is retained by Al Shaqab Racing, will be the colt's new rider.
"He's a wonderful horse," Al Shaqab racing manager Harry Herbert said in the Post. "I saw him for the first time at the Breeders' Cup and he's a magnificent physical specimen.
"He hasn't many miles on him and races like the Breeders' Cup Classic are hard. Jamie has allowed him to mature and got him to produce some exceptional performances."
Toast of New York made three trips to America last year, finishing second to Shared Belief in the Pacific Classic and getting beat a neck by Bayern in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
He, Bayern, and Shared Belief currently are 6-1 co-favorites with Ladbrokes for the Dubai World Cup.
The son of Thewayyouare was bred in Kentucky by Ashleigh Stud Farm and Jackie Ramos.
