Trainer Philip D'Amato has Red King in the All American Stakes at Golden Gate

Little Red Feather Racing, Gordon Jacobsen, and Philip Belmonte's Red King will attempt to stretch his two-race win streak to three in his stakes debut in the $100,000 All American Stakes (G3) going a mile over the all-weather surface at Golden Gate Fields.

The son of English Channel will race at the Northern California track for the first time after racing in allowance-level contests at Santa Anita Park and Del Mar. In his first two starts of 2019, Red King took a one-mile claiming race and a 1 1/8-mile optional-claiming allowance both over the grass at Santa Anita. Those two wins account for half of Red King's victories from 18 starts.

Among the competition, Gabo's Macondo, who drew the rail, finished second in his May 4 season debut going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Golden Gate. The Cape Blanco gelding ended last season with four consecutive wins while earning back-to-back career-best Equibase Speed Figures of 111 in a September optional-claiming allowance race on the turf at Golden Gate and the Oct. 14 Bull Dog Handicap on dirt at Fresno.

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has two entries in the All American. Calmuet Farm homebred Choo Choo will get class relief after finishing third in the April 27 San Francisco Mile Stakes (G3T). Another son of English Channel, Choo Choo was the winner of last year's California Derby in January but has struggled to find the winner's circle, only taking a March 30 optional-claiming allowance race since then.

San Francisco Mile fifth-place finisher Grecian Fire is the other Hollendorfer entry, and the Unusual Heat gelding is seeking his second stakes score from four wins in 22 starts. He won his season debut March 22 going six furlongs on the all-weather course at Golden Gate.
