After a racing break that saw Regal Glory put together a nice series of works, the daughter of Animal Kingdom  is scheduled to return to racing June 1 in the $200,000 Penn Oaks at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

The Penn Oaks, a one-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies, has drawn eight entries.

A homebred for Paul Pompa Jr., Regal Glory is the most accomplished filly in the field of turf runners as the winner of the Stewart Manor Stakes in November at Aqueduct Racetrack. That effort closed out a perfect two-start juvenile campaign and she has added a pair of graded stakes placings this season.

Conditioned by Chad Brown, Regal Glory will be making her first start since finishing second in the April 7 Appalachian Stakes Presented by Japan Racing Association (G2T) at Keeneland. Since that effort, in which she rallied from 10th early, Regal Glory has been sharpened in four May workouts on the Oklahoma Training Track at Saratoga Race Course.

Those impressive moves at Saratoga include a May 25 half-mile breeze in :48.67, third-fastest of 63 at the distance that day.

Another homebred who has never finished worse than second is Catherine Wills' Ionic, who will make her stakes debut for trainer Arnaud Delacour. The daughter of City Zip won her maiden debut March 31 at  1 1/16 miles on the Tampa Bay Downs turf and followed April 27 with a close runner-up finish in an allowance-optional claiming race going one mile on the Laurel Park turf.

Other accomplished runners include T. L. Wise homebred Ujjayi, who won the Ruthless Stakes on dirt this year at Aqueduct; and Trin-Brook Stables' Afleet Destiny, who finished second in last year's Demoiselle Stakes (G2) on dirt at Aqueduct.

While eight fillies have been entered, one of those is Irving Cowan homebred Remarkable Soul, a daughter of Medaglia d'Oro  who will only run if the race is moved to the main track.

The Penn Oaks is one of eight stakes on Saturday evening's Penn Mile Card. Besides the Penn Mile and Penn Oaks, other stakes include four MATCH Series races: the $100,000 Penn Ladies Dash Stakes at six furlongs, the $100,000 Chocolate Town Sprint Stakes, the $100,000 Susquehanna Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on the turf for fillies and mares, and the $100,000 Pennsylvania Governor's Cup Stakes at five furlongs on the turf.

The day's stakes races get started in race 4 (4:06 p.m. EDT) with the $100,000 New Start Stakes for state-bred 3-year-old fillies going six furlongs, where Ujjayi is cross-entered, and the $100,000 Danzig Stakes for Pennylvania-bred 3-year-olds at the same distance. The Danzig features grade 2 winner Call Paul, who drew outside in the expected field of 10.

Note: BloodHorse.com will have more May 30 on Saturday's MATCH series races.
