Daddy's Boo

Daddy's Boo, a "horse for the course," appears to be the one to catch in the $100,000 Arlington Matron Stakes (G3) June 1 on the Arlington International Racecourse all-weather track.

Daddy's Boo, campaigned by Patrica's Hope, has registered a record of 2-3-1 from six starts on the Arlington main track including a runner-up finish in last year's Arlington Matron. In fact, Daddy's Boo has made 14 starts at Arlington, on both turf and the all-weather course, with eight wins, five seconds, and a third and has not missed the frame at the suburban Chicago facility.

The 8-year-old daughter of Sweet Return, a confirmed front-runner, finished second to Princess La Quinta in the 2018 Arlington Matron, yielding late after leading most of the way. That event was the only previous effort at the 1 1/8 mile distance for Daddy's Boo, who is trained by Larry Rivelli—chasing his seventh straight Arlington training title.

Coachwhip, a 5-year-old So You Think mare, exits a third-place finish in the Bewitch Stakes (G3) at Keeneland April 26—her best showing in three graded stakes tries. One of five invading from Kentucky, the Jack Sisterton trainee, a Calumet Farm homebred, steps off the turf for the first time in her 15th start.

La Force, a 5-year-old mare by Power, is entered in the Arlington feature after finishing second in four of her past five starts, all graded stakes. The 9-5 morning-line favorite at Arlington is is cross-entered in the Santa Maria Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park, where she would face only four rivals for twice the purse.

"We're staying out here," trainer Paddy Gallagher said Thursday from Santa Anita. "The travel arrangements just got to be too complicated."

The projected scratch would reduce the field for the 1 1/8-mile feature to nine.
