Neptune's Storm will look to build on his first stakes win, while undefeated Gregorian Chant makes his stakes debut June 2 in the $150,000 Cinema Stakes at Santa Anita Park.
The 1 1/8-mile turf race for 3-year-oldsĀ has attracted six entries.
The morning line views the Cinema as a two-horse race. Neptune's Storm is installed as the 7-5 favorite off his three-quarter-length victory in the Singletary Stakes April 28 on the Santa Anita turf, and Gregorian Chant is 2-1.
In his past four turf starts, Neptune's Storm, by Stormy Atlantic, has earned three victories for the ownership group of Cybertec International, Saul Gevertz, Lynn Gitomer, Mike Goetz, Michael Nentwig, and Daniel Weiner. Trained by Richard Baltas, Neptune's Storm has breezed three times since his initial stakes score, including a bullet half-mile move May 12 at Santa Anita. Drayden Van Dyke, who was aboard for the Singletary, is expected to ride.
Meanwhile, trainer Phil D'Amato will send out Slam Dunk Racing, Andrew Molasky, and Michael Nentwig's Gregorian Chant after the son of Gregorian delivered a 2 1/4-length victory in his United States debut May 5 on the turf at Santa Anita in an allowance/optional claiming race. It was Gregorian Chant's second win in as many starts. He won his maiden debut Dec. 7 on the all-weather surface at Dundalk in Ireland.
