World of Trouble, a 4-year-old son of Kantharos , will stand at Hill 'n' Dale Farms alongside his sire at the conclusion of his racing career, the farm announced June 12.
The colt owned by Michael Dubb, Madaket Stables, and Bethlehem Stables is undefeated in four starts in 2019, including the Carter Handicap (G1) on dirt and the Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G1T) over the weekend on the Belmont Park turf. He has won seven of his past eight races, all stakes, falling a neck short in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T) as a 3-year-old.
The colt is expected to race through 2020, at which point he will be retired to stud. The current owners will retain an interest in his stud career.
Dubb, managing partner of World of Trouble, said: "My partners and I are excited World of Trouble will stand stud at such a world-class facility as Hill 'n' Dale. He is the fastest horse I have ever owned, by far, and we will look forward to continuing to run him in the best sprint races America has to offer. We are equally excited to support him at stud and will start to assemble mares for the 2021 breeding season."
Trainer Jason Servis, who saddled World of Trouble in all eight of his stakes wins that generated an average Equibase Speed Rating of 112, added: "I'm looking forward to training some of his offspring. If I had a mare, I'd want to breed to him with that speed."
Bred in Florida by Darsan, World of Trouble is out of the Valid Expectations mare Meets Expectations, a half sister to multiple grade 2 winner Bucchero (by Kantharos), who entered stud this year at Pleasant Acres Stallions near Ocala, Fla. Meets Expectations has produced five winners from as many foals to race, including black-type winner Money Or Love (J Be K).
John Sikura, president of Hill 'n' Dale, said: "To watch World of Trouble run is to see effortless, brilliant speed on both dirt and turf at the highest levels of racing. He is so unique as a grade 1 winner on both surfaces and is by Kantharos, who is a rising star in the sire ranks. He has Seattle Slew, Blushing Groom, and In Reality in his pedigree, so his entire pedigree page is replete with quality speed. World of Trouble is completely correct and medium in size, so he is compatible with every type of mare. Brilliant, consistent, and versatile are great requisites for a new sire."
Kantharos, who was campaigned by Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables, entered stud in Florida and established quick credentials as a sire. The son of Lion Heart was a top-10 freshman sire by progeny earnings and was co-runner-up by number of stakes winners as a second-crop sire with five along with Blame , Lookin At Lucky , Midshipman , Eskendereya, and Super Saver .
As a third-crop sire, he was runner-up again in his sire class by number of black-type winners with nine, led by future group 1 winner X Y Jet. Kantharos was relocated from Ocala Stud to Hill 'n' Dale for the 2017 breeding season. The stallion stands for $20,000.
BSW Bloodstock represented both buyer and seller on the stallion deal.
