Trainer Jason Servis said he is entering Maximum Security in the June 16 TVG.com Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park, a 1 1/16-mile test that will serve as the homebred son of New Year's Day's first race since May 4 when he was disqualified from first to 17th in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1).
Servis said via text June 13 that satisfactory results from blood work taken a few days ago was the compelling reason for making the decision to enter Sunday's race at Monmouth Park, where Gary and Mary West's 3-year-old is based.
A field of six is expected.
The Pegasus is expected to serve as Maximum Security's stepping stone prep for the $1 million Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1) July 20, also at Monmouth Park.
Winner of the Xpressbet Florida Derby (G1), Maximum Security owns wins in four of five starts with earnings of $639,400.
BloodHorse.com plans a full preview of the Pegasus in the late afternoon of June 13.
