A $330,000 price tag came as little surprise to Danielle Bricker, who came to Fasig-Tipton for The July Sale with the hopes of purchasing Hip 246, a filly from the first crop of Darley's Frosted . The price paid was the highest achieved to date by a foal sired the grade 1-winning son of Tapit

Bricker, who works with trainer Todd Pletcher and signed the winning ticket July 9 on behalf of Let's Go Stables, said she came prepared to stretch for the filly.

"We expected the price for what she looked like, how the market has been showing, and what the Frosteds have been selling for as weanlings," said Bricker. "I expected she was going to be a bit pricey. The right horses are selling for the right price. There are very obvious horses in this sale that are sticking out to everyone and they're selling for what they should be. For the upcoming August and September sales it should be a strong market, which is what we want to see in the industry."

Bred in Kentucky by H. Allen Poindexter, the filly is the fourth foal out of the Street Sense mare Humble Street. Her dam is out of the stake-winning Siberian Pine mare Humble Retha, who also produced stakes winner Han Sense and grade 3 placed Humble Janet

"She did everything right, always," said Tim Hamlin, who consigned the filly through his Wynnstay Stables. "I love the Frosteds. They're beautiful, athletic, correct, and great-minded. They have everything you would want from a stallion."

"I think Frosted is going to be a pretty good sire come racing," said Bricker. "She looked very athletic, had a huge walk to her, good angles ... I think she's the perfect size. As soon as she grows a little bit and fills out, she's going to be what we want to see on the racetrack."

Hip 246 was one of two yearlings purchased by Let's Go Stables during the one-day sale. The outfit struck earlier in the day for Hip 103, a $125,000 Upstart  filly consigned by Brereton C. Jones/Airdrie Stud, agent.

The filly was bred in Kentucky by her consignor out of the Indian Charlie mare Visavis, a half sister to Buena Vista Stakes (G3) winner Wild at Heart as well as two other stakes winners.

"I think the good horse is always going to bring the money," said Hamlin. "The horses that are by bubble stallions will always have to prove themselves a little more. If you bring the horses that jump through all the hoops you're going to get paid.

"I think this is a great place to sell horses. It's a beautiful fairgrounds, the whole staff is top-notch, there are great horsemen that come out to support the sale, and when people come here to buy horses they know they're going to get the nice horses from the farm. It's a select sale and it's just going to get bigger and better."
