Liz Crow was busy selling horses at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale July 8 as a partner with Bradley Weisbord in ELiTE, which finished the Monday exercise as second-leading consignor.

On July 9, the horsewoman was on the other side of the fence, actively buying on behalf of Weisbord's BSW Bloodstock and other clients during The July Sale, Fasig-Tipton's selected yearling sale in Lexington, Ky.

Among Crow's purchases was a Munnings  colt consigned as Hip 105 by Eaton Sales, agent, acquired for $265,000 on behalf of Rick Kueber's Kueber Racing and Ten Strike Racing. Bred in Kentucky by McCauley Farms and Nathan McCauley, the colt foaled March 14, 2018, is the first foal out of the unraced Into Mischief  mare Walking Miracle.

Crow said the colt will be sent to Brad Cox to train.

"Brad loved the horse; I loved the horse," she said. "He had a lot of Into Mischief in him, as his broodmare sire, and he looked like he was quick, with the Munnings speed on top."

The transaction represented a healthy profit for Ben McElroy's Bloodstock Management Services partnership group, which acquired the colt for $55,000 at last year's Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

"I thought he was one of the better physicals in the sale and Munnings is having a great year," said Eaton Sales' Reiley McDonald. "I think he looked like a carbon copy of his grandsire, Into Mischief. He had a little more size and substance than most Munnings (foals)."

Crow said she was taking advantage of a paucity of agents present at the July sale to begin buying at a price level that would likely be higher than she would find later in the year.

"There were a lot of nice horses here and (the Keeneland September Yearling Sale) is always strong," Crow said. "There are a lot of agents who are not here and I find if you don't strike now you end up regretting it in September."
