Heavenly Hill, a 5-year-old daughter of City Zip coming off a grade 3 stakes placing, was sold for $100,000 July 8 at the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale to produce a big return for a partnership group.

Consigned as Hip 479 by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, the mare purchased by Delong Bloodstock has won or placed in 12 of 21 starts, with earnings of $101,573. In her most recent start for trainer Chris Hartman, Heavenly Hill finished third in the Chicago Handicap (G3) at Arlington International.

The mare was consigned on behalf of Living the Dream Stable, consisting of Greg Harbut, of Lexington-based Harbut Bloodstock, and partners Lawrence Herring Jr. and Anthony Wright. Trainer Mike Maker claimed Heavenly Hill for $16,000 from breeder Donamire Farm in November.

Out of the Pleasant Tap mare Pleasant Hill, a grade 3 winner at Ellis Park, Heavenly Hill is a half sister to stakes-placed Willow Hills and hails from the extended female family of grade 1 winner Benny the Dip.

"We claimed her for $16,000 and won several allowance races with her so we had some fun along the way and were able to capitalize on a little more income," Harbut said. "She's a 5-year-old mare so you don't know how many starts she would have left and we don't breed. With her placing in the grade 3 stakes we just felt it was the right time to sell. If she didn't bring her reserve we were prepared to continue racing her. These guys will probably re-invest so I'm looking forward to doing it again."
