OwnerView announced July 11 that a panel of industry leaders will participate in a discussion about issues facing the Thoroughbred industry, current measures in place, and future plans to solve these issues at the sixth Thoroughbred Owner Conference.

The conference will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., Oct. 28-30 and coincides with the Breeders' Cup World Championships, scheduled for Nov. 1-2 at the Southern California track.

Topics for the "State of the Industry" address include racetrack safety, uniform rules, whip restrictions, Lasix use, and the status of the Horseracing Integrity Act. The session will include time for attendees to ask panelists questions. Speakers for this panel will be announced later this year.

"The State of the Industry address at this year's Thoroughbred Owner Conference is a unique opportunity for attendees to hear firsthand what is being done to resolve many industry issues. Attendees will have a chance to directly engage with industry leaders about their concerns regarding the Thoroughbred industry," said Gary Falter, project manager for the Thoroughbred Owner Conference. "Speakers will be invited to reflect on current events in racing, and I am looking forward to hearing their insights."

The full conference schedule, as well as more information about the conference, registration, and hotel accommodations, is available at ownerview.com

OwnerView is a joint effort spearheaded by The Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association to encourage ownership of Thoroughbreds and provide accurate information on aspects of ownership such as trainers, public racing syndicates, the process of purchasing and owning a Thoroughbred, racehorse retirement, and owner licensing.

The need for a central resource to encourage Thoroughbred ownership was identified in the comprehensive economic study of the sport commissioned by The Jockey Club and conducted by McKinsey & Company in 2011. The OwnerView site was launched in May 2012.
