A well-bred Curlin  colt just missed the seven-figure mark when purchased by Ken McPeek, agent for Paul Fireman's Fern Circle, for $950,000 during the first hour of the Aug. 6 second session of Fasig-Tipton's The Saratoga Sale.

Consigned as Hip 134 from Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, the chestnut colt produced from the grade 1-winning Flatter  mare Taris was bred in Kentucky by Heider Family Stables.

"He's a classy horse. He speaks for himself; you don't have to say anything," said Hill 'n' Dale's Donato Lanni.
