Fore Left comes into the Best Pal off a 4 1/2-length score in the Tremont Stakes at Belmont Park

Reddam Racing's Fore Left brings a 2-for-2 record into the $200,000 Best Pal Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, where he will face a competitive field of six other 2-year-old males going six furlongs Aug. 10.

The Twirling Candy  colt trained by Doug O'Neill broke his maiden by a neck May 19, outrunning eventual Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) winner Phantom Boss and fellow Best Pal entrant and stablemate Raging Whiskey, who later finished third in the July 13 Sanford Stakes (G3). Fore Left returned June 7 to take the Tremont Stakes at Belmont Park by 4 1/2 lengths, defeating a field that included Kentucky Juvenile Stakes winner Rookie Salsa.

The only stakes winner in the field and the 5-2 second choice in the morning line, Fore Left will be ridden by Mario Gutierrez from the outside post.

Most in Saturday's Best Pal field are first-out maiden winners, with Kaleem Shah's Schrodinger taking morning-line favoritism at odds of 2-1. The Justin Phillip  colt won his debut, a five-furlong test at Los Alamitos Racecourse, by 1 1/4 lengths for trainer Simon Callaghan.

Shah purchased the colt for $550,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, where he was consigned by Hoppel's Horse & Cattle Co. The colt has three timed works over the Del Mar dirt course and posted two bullet five-furlong works in July.

Drawing the rail, Rockingham Ranch and David Bernsen's $875,000 purchase Wrecking Crew comes into the juvenile test off his July 27 maiden debut, which he won by 1 3/4 lengths. Trained by Peter Miller, the Sky Kingdom  ridgling was bought at Fasig-Tipton's The Gulfstream Sale out of the Wavertree Stables consignment.

Mark Glatt trainee Collusion Illusion also won on debut, taking a five-furlong maiden special weight July 21 at Del Mar by a half-length. Thanks Mr. Eidson, trained by Jeff Bonde, has finished first, second, and third in three starts. The More Than Ready  colt broke his maiden in his third try when he was dropped down to a five-furlong maiden claiming test at Del Mar, winning by 9 1/2 lengths.

Lastly, trainer Bob Baffert has entered We're Still Here, who has two runner-up efforts from two starts. The colt by Union Rags  was second by nose in his debut to Pas de Panique, who went on to be runner-up Aug. 2 in the Graduation Stakes at Del Mar.
