Bricks and Mortar Continues Streak in Arlington Million

Description:

Chad Brown became the first trainer in Arlington International Racecourse history to sweep all three grade 1 turf events—the Arlington Million, Beverly D. Stakes, and Secretariat Stakes—when the country's leading turf horse Bricks and Mortar swept to his sixth consecutive victory in the Aug. 10 Arlington Million XXXVII (G1T).

Bandua, winner of the Arlington Handicap (G3T) over the same course July 13, tried to lead every step, but Bricks and Mortar rushed down the home stretch to hit the wire first, completing 1 1/4 miles in 1:59.44 on firm going. Regular rider Irad Ortiz Jr. was in the irons.

The European filly Magic Wand played second fiddle to Bricks and Mortar again, having also been runner-up to the son of Giant's Causeway in the Jan. 26 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1T) at Gulfstream Park. Bandua held for third.

Owned by Klaravich Stables and Bill Lawrence, Bricks and Mortar is undefeated in five starts this season.
